Strokes are the third leading cause of death and the leading cause of disability in the United States. They affect someone in the U.S. every 53 seconds. They claim a life every 3.3 minutes. We are fortunate to have a staff of outstanding physicians specializing in neurology and neurosurgery. Additionally, Our Hospital is proud to offer the area’s only Stroke Team, which takes an organized and systematic approach to treating stroke. Treatment begins the minute the patient arrives in our Emergency Department, so debilitation from stroke may be drastically reduced. Stroke Team members include the emergency physician, CT technician, radiologist, pharmacist and neurologist. The team also educates the public about the warning signs and risk factors associated with stroke.
