Job Description Responsible for day-to-day operations of the Department of Surgery Clinics at multiple practice sites at YOUR CENTER, and various off site locations. Position includes leadership of management and clinical personnel, systems planning, financial management, participation in executive committees, and hands-on problem solving of complex customer service and personnel issues. The Administrative Director position reports to the Director of Clinical Operations for the Department of Surgery who sets the scope and direction of the department’s seven division’s clinical programs, coordinates services with the Medical Center’s multidisciplinary programs that include Surgery, and oversees the Department of Surgery’s multiple on and off campus clinical sites.



The incumbent is responsible for the day-to-day operational, financial, human and other resource management, as well as strategic planning of the clinical practice. Provides leadership and oversees practice policies and procedures to ensure smooth and efficient work flow for physicians and staff in support of exceptional patient care. Create monitoring systems to develop benchmarks for best practices. Provide financial oversight of clinic expenses and institute a cost monitoring system to mitigate unanticipated expense increases. Initiate new programs to streamline clinic work flow, increase revenue generation for inpatient and outpatient services, and address staff performance issues.



This position provides input on short and long range plans for clinical operations related to space planning, clinic expansion and any off-site Department of Surgery clinical activity. This position will serve as the liaison with Ambulatory Services Administration for the Medical Center as well as be responsible for any other market, quality and service improvement initiatives.



She/he will also be responsible for developing and implementing staff and resident education and compliance programs, adhering to all relevant Federal, State, University and regulatory agencies policies that apply to the clinical practice. Oversee new and existing departmental systems implementation and training for physicians and staff e.g., IDX, PICIS, PACS, etc.



The Practice Supervisor must have the ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks, work well with staff, patients and providers and independently trouble shoot sensitive practice issues. A high degree of independence, initiative, assertiveness, and diplomacy are necessary in dealing with faculty, staff and patients in a complex environment.
Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree.
• Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to develop policies and procedures.
• Three to five years of experience with financial responsibility for a medical practice.
• Three to five years of supervisory experience with demonstrated ability to handle complex labor and performance matters. Demonstrated skill and sensitivity in addressing personnel matters.
• Three to five years of relevant customer service experience dealing with the general public.
• Demonstrated success with technology and systems projects to address operations problems
• Strong work ethic and time management skills.
